I'm fairly new to posting but I've been reading for over a year. The absense of censorship is one of the things that attracted me most and I share JahL's concerns. I like the fact that all the decisions are above board. This seems to be fairly unique.
If you go this route I'd like to see the openness maintained. Perhaps flag each moderated post with the word "moderated". If some posters are free to say everything they think and others aren't it's only fair to those who aren't to be up front about it.
You might also be able to prevent the problem of moderator bias by reviewing the excluded posts once a week or so and posting any that you thought should not have been excluded - perhaps with a "Moderation overturned" message. This would guarantee that your open policies were continued but should be easier on your time.
Finally, if you had to, you could apply the same requirements to posters registering with throwaway accounts from yahoo and hotmail for a set period of time. I would hate to see you ban these entirely. I would not have registered if I couldn't use yahoo but I see the problem they can cause. I personally would like to see a distinction noted between being moderated for misconduct and for being an anonymous newcomer.
