It's not crazy! I used to have a very severe vocal tic, clearing my throat. I discovered it when I first got into social work, as we had to video tape us students interviewing clients as practise. I was, on average, clearing my throat every two minutes. And my whole college class watched this! The strong urge is a very anxiety provoking feeling, and that took me over 2 years to tame it.

So, trust me, regardless of what the 'urge' is, it's not funny and I totally get it! Have you tried the usual meds for it? Sometimes talk therapy, and being open with a professional, like a social worker or psychotherapist, is your best bet to clear up the distress. CBT therapy has an amazing track record with OCD. Don't worry what everyone else thinks, the distress is very real, and it can be treated. There are some good, free resources on the internet. Let me know if you need any help.

Best,
Jay
