very low dose (2.5 mgs, if I recall correctly) zyprexa helped anxiety and agitation...a lot. then I went to 5mgs, and had akathisia. -ugh-
abilify is OK. I take 20mgs. doesn't make mood worse, takes the edge off depressive lows (less agitation, for instance). akathisia is more common with abilify than with zyprexa, but I've read (and been told) that people who can tolerate Abilify generally prefer it to other antipsychotics.
i don't have personal experience with vraylar, sorry. a psych brought it up...and it sounded scary. apparently, there's not as much D2 partial agonism going on with Vraylar, which the psych tried to sell as a good thing...
but i was concerned about dysphoria, depression, TD, etc.
caplyta i also have 0 experience with, sorry. it is very new, i think it has a somewhat unique mechanism of action (?), so..???
wish i could have offered more help. i will say that although doctors are forever pushing low(ish) doses of abilify on people for depression, what little i"ve read on the subject makes it seem...
well, it doesn't seem like the best maneuver, ever. high costs, in the aggregate the benefits aren't tremendous, plus that means non-psychotic disorder individuals get exposed to neuroleptics (always a risky thing, honestly).
random question...are you on an antidepressant, now? has your psych considered buspar augmentation?
ok. :-)
