undopaminergic - yes, but sodium amytal was used in psychiatric session during the 1950s and before, it's intermidate barbiturate, lasts about 6 hours, its more potent as phenobabrital but less potent than secobarbital and pentobarbital, but it was also called 'goof balls' 'blue heavans' which yes it catches you off guard. But, yea amobarbital is gone, and its old drug, it was released or patented to market in 1922. Secobarbital was releassed in early 1930s here in the US. Most all of them yes CE said are outdated and useless compared to safer alternatives. Buts still a barbiturate produces 'peace', benzos seem to have 'tranquil' feeling, they both work GABA but benzos open the frequency of choride channel " BDZs are understood to potentiate GABA(A) receptor function by increasing channel opening frequency, in contrast to barbiturates, which increase channel open duration"

thats why barbiturates have a diffrent type of sedation than benzos, it keeps the channel opening longer, while benzos keep the frequency higher
