Lyrica (pregabalin) and Neurontin (gabapentin) are both considered derivatives of the amino acid gaba, and pretty much work the same way. Here in Canada, Lyrica is not a controlled substance. I have horrid anxiety, and Lyrica really relaxes me, and chills me out. Way, way better than most benzos. Just like a, now legal in Canada, cannabis infused jolly-rancher does on a stressful day.
The government, trying to control all these meds, is silly, I think. I work as a rehab and addictions counsellor, and have a major problem with the government trying to make every drug illicit and illegal. All's that does is fill up jail cells, and clogs up the justice system. IMHO...
