> So who is going to be on this? It sounds cool: No weight gain. I am losing weight anyway, so I wonder if I should try. Maybe not until it is approved in Germany, because before that I'd had to pay.
>What do you find exciting about lumateperone?
I was hopeful about cariprazine, but now that I'm on it (3 mg), it has no apparent effect. I am also interested in lurasidone, but I think I'll try vortioxetine instead.
Anyway, cariprazine causes particularly little weight gain, certainly less than quetiapine (Seroquel), olanzapine (Zyprexa), and clozapine.
That said, I have no weight gain despite being on clozapine. The problem is that it disrupts the swallowing reflex, so that you wake up with your pillow wet from saliva.
> I wonder if it has less cognitive impairment effects than Seroquel.
Probably. Why have you (or your doctor) chosen Seroquel in the first place? From what I understand it is not a very effective antipsychotic.
There are some antipsychotics that can help relieve depression, and I suggest you consider them. They are sulpiride, amisulpride, and flupenthixol in particular, but as adjuncts there is also aripiprazole, cariprazine, and lurasidone, and if I'm not mistaken, also brexpiprazole.
> That would be a reason to switch but I can't find anything on this. I do feel a bit stupid since the Seroquel dosage was bumped up.

For people with a diagnosis of psychosis, the end-user price of most antipsychotics is very low, only a few euros per pack and the taxpayers pay the rest. I suppose this is meant to encourage people to use this class of drugs.
