I am in Canada too, Ontario. Ive never been given a diagnosis formally from a doc or anything like that. But I have lifelong severe social/general anxiety and depression which are getting worse. I have tried about ten to twelve different meds.
I was considering the hospital to get a benzodiazepine prescription. my doctor stopped refilling my very low dose (.5 mg) PRN lorazepam prescription without notice or communicating why. And benzos are the ONLY thing that touch my anxiety. Ive been without them for over a month and Im in the worst state. Anxiety so bad I almost get hit by cars because I cant focus or think about where Im going. So I was hoping they could give me some lorazepam (or preferably alprazolam or clonazepam) at a hospital. My next appt with my pdoc is in a month and I cant wait so long.
But I probably wont go this route because It seems like something theyd tell you to ask your doctor for. A lot of effort and shame to be told no probably.
