You have to go by your reaction.

In theory, Effexor shouldn't cause norepinephrine related side effects at low doses, but it does seem to.

I personally use (much) less than 37.5mg and still get a benefit.

I get co-venlafaxine which contains 3 pucks (no spheroids). Each puck would be 12.5mg. Even 12.5mg has a positive effect on me.

If you cannot tolerate 37.5mg after 2-3 weeks then you may wish to reduce the dose (or stop altogether) as this is a decent trial.

If you notice that side effects in week 2 were less than week 1, then you could give it more time.
