Hi Rick.
Where did you see that dried prunes were contraindicated when taking an MAOI? What adverse reaction is it supposed to cause? I have been on Parnate and Nardil, and have eaten huge amounts of dried prunes, dried aprocots, and raisins without any sort of reaction. The older lists were overly inclusive, and often just plain wrong.
An example of a food on old lists that is wrong is chocolate. This contraindication was based on a single case in the 1960s. It just so happened that she had eaten cheese the day before. However, the reaction was delayed (which sometimes happens), and coincided with her intake of chocolate.
If you are still reluctant to eat dried prunes, I find raisin bran cereal to be quite effective for keeping me regular. You can try plain bran cereal instead if you feel the need to avoid raisins.
What about using a Metamucil-type fiber supplement?
What other drugs are you taking?
