One Year Brintellix Treatment Report

Posted by FloydAS on March 18, 2016, at 10:42:56

I've been on Brintellix for a year so I figured I'd provide the board a summary of my experience thus far, for what it's worth.

Previously I've been a short term dose of Lexapro years ago and more recently on every dose of Zoloft imaginable for GAD with only minimal success. Ultimately I slowly decreased my dosage until I was completely off the Zoloft, which during that time I became quite unpredictable. I was highly impulsive, and short tempered. Not easy to be around at home and at work people noticed my impulsive mental state.

My PDoc decided to try me on Brintellix. I have not been diagnosed with depression specifically or have not been told that my doc suspects that I have any signs of depression. Personally I feel that's a definite possibility. I was placed on 5 mg initially and quickly increased to 10 mg. The initial dosages significantly improved my mood and made me more socially talkative and more outgoing at work than I've ever been before. It was quite a good feeling and I felt GREAT.

Unfortunately that initial feeling waned but I hit a good equilibrium with my impulsiveness and anxiety once I increased to 20 mg dosage which I have remained to this day.

One person I trust at work who's had his own issues that I helped him work through noted that he could see a major difference/improvement and stability in my thinking and actions after I started on Brintellix and that I've been consistent ever since.

And on the most positive note, I was rated top performer in my organization by our regional president through our annual performance review process for 2015 so I think I'm in a very good place now.

I realize this med may not be right for everyone, but at least for me at this particular time it has been a success. Hopefully it will continue to be effective for a good while longer.
