Jade,
I just wanted to say that I wholeheartedly agree with the comments that you made to Scott. I know that you were sharing your own thoughts about why Scott is such a valuable asset to these forums, but much of what you wrote actually expressed many of the thoughts that I've had concerning the sheer amount of good that Scott does on this site day in and day out, and usually even multiple times a day. Along the lines of what you wrote, I think that Scott's ongoing contributions to this site are a huge part of why I find these forums to be a place that's worth visiting -- a place where most of the members are extremely respectful and understanding of one another despite the fact that there's been no formal moderation here for at least several months, a place where members can and oftentimes do offer previously unconsidered ideas for treatments and for how to cope with and successfully manage mental health conditions, and a place where the members generally take great care to make sure that the information they offer to one another is as accurate, complete, and relevant as possible. I mean this as no slight to any of the other members here who offer helpful information, insights, and support to other members, but I don't think that I can truthfully evaluate the value of the contributions that are made by those of us who post to Psycho-Babble without saying that Scott has done more than any other member here to help make this site a place that I like to keep visiting.
Scott is extremely knowledgeable about psychopharmacolgy, mental health research, and all sorts of interventions that people can use to improve their mental health, and in my view, he uses this knowledge with great tenacity to help better the lives of those who come to this site. When other members here are going through trying times -- whether they're distressed because of events in their lives, because of symptoms of the mental health conditions that they live with, because of difficulties and frustrations associated with medications and/or other treatments that they might be utilizing, because they might have felt hurt by something that somebody else on this site or elsewhere said, or for some other reason -- Scott is among the first to offer consolation, reassurance, and helpful guidance to help ease the discomfort that the members are experiencing. I consider myself to be among the many who have been helped by Scott's empathetic, encouraging, resourceful, solution-oriented, and wise words, and even though I might not always convey the level of gratitude that I feel for the positive manner in which Scott has touched my life though what he's written to me and to others on this site, I'll try to convey my gratitude now by saying this: Scott thanks God for pharmaceuticals, but I thank God for Scott.
So, the thanks that I have to offer are both to Jade and to Scott: to Jade to conveying so well to Scott some sentiments about the valuable role that he plays in making this site the positive resource and support forum that it is, and to Scott for your tireless efforts to help to improve the lives of those here on Psycho-Babble in any way you can. This Web site is without question so much better than it might otherwise be because of what you write here, and I think that the people here (myself most definitely included) are, as well.
