If your p-doc is suggesting a 2nd opinion, then you should do that. It's a consult for her as well as for you and allows her to get a fresh set of eyes on the problem. My p-doc felt stymied once and sent me to a (very expensive!) uber-psychopharmacologist who had some very good suggestions. It's no different from your primary care doc sending you to a specialist. It's a professional and ethical strength when a doctor can admit they are stymied and bring someone else on the case.
