Saw my doc for stomach pain, residual headache, and low grade fever. He pushed around on my abdomen and set up a CT scan in 20 minutes for me.
Then I went home, grabbed a few things and took a cab to the hospital. ($18.00 each way...:) Was in for one full week exactly. Two very good internists, two MRI's. Dozens of blood test and fever was getting worse and blood was getting more bacteria in it not less.
The original thought was inflamed pancreas. Then they checked the gall bladder: the numbers didn't add up. Then we talked NMS. I told them all this other stuff wasn't involved but the fever certainly felt familiar. We dropped the 400 m.g. Seroquel and three days later I was out of there. Now Zyprexas and Seroquel have somehow pulled this rare hat trick. Zyprexa had much higher fevers but fever is fever.I haven't slept in days so Monday morning I called my doc (You've really been through the mill!). I said I can't sleep at all, I need some help now! He gave me Haldol for Christ's sake and Ambien. RX was out out of Ambien yesterday so took 5 m.g. Haldol and stared at the ceiling for 8 hours. Once again, Haldol scares me. So what are the top 10 reported side effects of Haldol reported to the FDA? See #6. See #4. I do not want to continue with this unless someone has a positive spin on it.
Just got a call from my doc's office. Medicare won't approve Ambien until I try Belsomra! It appears useless. It sounds like a hearing aid or a mattress.
