CBD is primarily for body effects. Epilepsy. Seizures. Pain. It is helpful with a wide variety of symptoms, syndromes, and diseases, improving quality of life, and sometimes even helping with healing, as in anti-cancer, but it is not usually helpful in mood except perhaps with pure uncomplicated anxiety.

The best benefits for psychiatric patients are in the whole plant. As with most things in nature, the chemical and healing components of plants are a wide mix of varying spectrums and effects.

I know two chronic major depression patients who failed about every med there is, failed ECT, yet were reborn into normalcy when they began smoking pot daily. It isn't a high. With chronic usage, the psychoactive effect develops tolerance, and the mood effects kick in, sort of in the same manner as the pattern we see with antidepressants. I'm not positive, but I believe pot greatly increase all three....serotonin, ne, and da. It can spark motivation and creativity and interest where all meds fail. Which in my opinion is pretty much the most crippling part of depression....the interest, hobbies, spiritual, motivation. Marijuana deals with those very well. Not perfect. Nothing is. Way better than meds though. Better than other herbs too.

Studies show it causes depression or psychosis. Those studies are riddled with flaws and conclusions that can be easily challenged. There are studies, more recent than those, showing evidence of the antidepressant power.

It is all in how it is used...the dosing itself...can't just smoke away...it is used like a med in a controlled fashion customized for each person.

CBD not likely to help psychiatry. The whole plant has high potential to help, especially with chronic patients who have experienced many failures.
