I found this... And then I lost it... But I just found it again.
In "Campbell's Biology" 9th edition page 924 They list Fluorine under 'Mineral Requirements of Humans' (along with Calcium, Phosphorus, Sulfur, Potassium, Chlorine, Sodium, Magnesium, Iron, and Iodine). THen a little asterisk to: 'Additional Minerals are required in trace amounts are chromium, cobalt, copper, manganese, molybdenum, selenium, and zinc. All of these minerals as well as those listed in the table are harmful when consumed in excess'. They say major dietary sources are: 'Drinking water, tea, seafood' that the Major Functions in the Body are 'Maintenance of tooth structure' and that symptoms of deficiency are 'Higher Frequency of tooth decay'.
All that surprised me a great deal... They don't reference anything.
I dont' know what I think about fluoride... All I know is that I had a lot of intermittent trouble with my teeth (to do with pain and inflammation and sometimes infection) and using a small amount of sensodyne toothpaste to brush very gently for a couple minutes seems to be working to prevent that. could be because there is something in sensodyne that kills the nerves for all i know... anyway... less inflammation / infection too so... i guess i'll just keep doing that...
