As a side comment, I don't buy the notion of TRD. If psychiatric drugs have not improved the condition, it doesn't mean it is treatment resistant. It means the wrong treatments were applied. It means the assumption the neurotransmitters were messed up was maybe a wrong assumption, and that the problem is something else not being touched by the ADs.
That's why I personally think it is important for all psych patients, priority to the sickest, to research online and learn all about things such as lyme disease and toxins in our lifestyle and what plants, herbs, foods, are specifically potent for things like unsuspected inflammation, unsuspected pathogen load, unsuspected toxin load. If those 3 areas are cleaned up, psych symptoms improve often dramatically. The reason a somewhat wide umbrella is needed, I think, is because within it are the most common things I know of that cause the type of depression that responds negatively or neutrally to psych meds.
