In reply to Geodon bringing on major depression, posted by jennifer248805 on July 5, 2013, at 8:06:01

Has anyone actually had a major depression episode come on as a result of taking Geodon/zeldox? It has certainly increased my anxiety 10 fold. I feel like I'm about to pop out of my skin. I feel like a caged animal just dying to get out of my box so I can gouge someone's eyes out I feel like punching people, punching walls, and I'm having more despair and hopelessness than every before.

Geodon is a rather unpredictable drug that can produce a variety of adverse psychiatric side effects. I discontinued Geodon after only 2 weeks because it produced profound cognitive impairments and derealization. Geodon was prescribed to me in order to treat bipolar depression. Although the package insert for Geodon does not contain a black-box warning that it might cause suicidality, depression is listed as a possible side effect.
It is important to understand that your experiencing depression as a side effect of Geodon probably does not extended to all antipsychotics. You might do very well on some of the other ones.
Good luck.
