But last night I fell off the wagon and did something I'd never done before: smoked crystal meth. I'm trying not to panic and to look forward, treating this as a slip but not letting it destroy my progress, but I'm having a major freak-out because of what I know are meth's killer characteristics.

I seriously doubt it did any permanent damage.I think it indicates you are hanging with the wrong people and they are exposing you to temptation. The thing you can do is not hang out with those people, at least under circumstances where partying can occur. That substance does not drop from the trees, you have to get it from someone, so avoid that someone and you will avoid the substance.
