I worked in the journalism field for 13 years, with 12 of those years in management, so I understand that the service that PsychTimes provides - informative articles on various aspects of mental health - comes at a price, in the form of advertising. Being a niche publication, it's potential advertisers are much fewer than, say, The New York Times. At the same time, it is frustrating to see how aggressively Big Pharma targets the mentally ill (as well as folks who are simply a little down), especially when compared with other medical issues. Probably 90 percent of ads on TV marketing medications are pitching antidepressants. Haven't seen any ads for insulin. It does have a vultures-circling-overhead vibe to it...
