The only difference is the potency and timing - Welbutrin SR is taken twice a day, but contains a lower dose than Welbutrin XL which is taken once a day

The effect of either preperation should be the same provided they are administered at the same dose.

If you try Welbitrin and find that it helps, but needs a nit more "kick", it can safely be combined with Zoloft
