I started 300 mg of lithium at the very beginning of July. With the exception of a brief trial of 450 mg and 600 mg, 300 mg has been my dose consistently.
I believe it's been augmenting my Lexapro and preventing me from going into deeper, extended periods of depression, but I'm not totally convinced since as of August I've been very up and down and had a lot of unnecessary meltdowns.
Here's my quandary: I never got hungrier from it and I did not start eating more. I'm a vegetarian, and if anything, I feel like I eat less on Lithium. If that's the case, how did I gain almost 15 lbs over the last several or so months? My baseline weight is 105 lbs, so 15 is A LOT on me.
To make matters worse, I blew up with a random, acute case of full body edema about three weeks ago, and while it's almost gone, I'm still on diuretics.
Can anyone help me out here? The weight gain has been really depressing on its own, and I'm not convinced Lithium is worth staying on.
I would really appreciate any insight or input.
Thanks in advance.
