Geodon's antidepressant effects are very strong and really are apparent at lower doses, say 20-80 mg. Not only is Geodon a 5ht1a partial agonist, its also an SNRI (seratonin, norepenphrine reuptake inhibitor).
>We titrated up to 120 mgs and the paranoia that we are trying to treat in under control
120-160 mgs is really the dosage range where Geodon becomes an antipsychotic. Lower doses yield a stronger AD effect.
>If I take it during the day I end up in bed
Geodon is a little bit of an antihistamine as well. It antagonizes H1 receptors which makes people sleepy. I found it was better to take it at night.
>I always take it with at least 500 calories
This is so it can be metabolized. If you don't eat when you take it, it loses about 50% of its efficacy.
>I would like to find a way of optimizing dose so I can maintain weight loss and mood, as well as best anti-psychotic effect.
Stay in that 120-160 mg range and I think you'll be happy.
