if you cant get the doc to alter your benzos, it might be worth asking if you can try Remeron....15mg at night for 4 nights, then 30mg at night
As well as being an antidepressant, it has potent antianxiety effects (5HT2A andC) - it would certainly be worth a shot.
It releives anxirty through the same mechanism as the atypical antipsychotics without some of their downsides
