Yeah I loved zyprexa too, for about 8 years. I did not get much weight on it, but I have skinny genes to begin with. My normal baseline weight is around 130-135. On Zyprexa the heaviest I ever got was 145. So not everybody has a problem with that.
People do not change their grocery buying habits on zyprexa, so that is also a problem. Food choices make a big difference. Every meal should be mostly colored veggies and fruits, and some protein, and a little bit of carbs. The problem is, people keep eating the same as they always have, or they eat more than before. Zyprexa can cause the munchies. People will go for donuts and pizza before they go for celery sticks and carrots, and then they wonder why all the weight gain.
Taking zyprexa, or any drug, is a risk/benefit decision. Does it improve quality of life enough to justify the difficulties? If yes, then take it. If no, don't.
