Seroquel with or without Navane might be necessary to prevent psychotic breakthrough. If an antidepressant is necessary, Wellbutrin might be helpful. I know someone who fits your description very closely, and has had success using these three drugs in combination. Any sleepiness that appeared early in treatment disappeared completely.
Lamictal (lamotrigine) is not of much use to treat mania acutely, and I have my doubts whether it can prevent it as a mood stabilizer.
