One drug that I do try to stay away from as a long-term treatment is Zyprexa. I can appreciate you apprehension in raising the dose.
In some of the older studies, one of which was performed by Michael Lieobowitz, Parnate demonstrated a therapeutic effect in treating social anxiety in a way similar to Nardil. If anxiety is a component of the depressive disorder, it can improve as the depression improves. There are simply not enough studies comparing Parnate to Nardil in the treatment of anxiety disorders. I think there has been a tendency to avoid using Parnate in treating these disorders because, "intuitively", it makes sense not to give someone with an anxiety disorder an amphetamine-like drug. Of course, we now see how amphetamines can actually have a calming effect for some people. For me, anxiety deceases substantially as I begin to glean an antidepressant response to Parnate.
