Sorry but I don't blame your doc for saying no to stimulants. They are not a good long term fix for depression, and they could leave someone feeling worse than before. Even some of my most stable friends that tried stimulants for a while started to hate the come down from them and the tolerance they started to build against them.
Matt, hang in there, I really don't think you need stimulants. I know you want to feel better right now, and your sick and tired of suffering, but sometimes the better we can endure the pain, the better chance we have of making progress and healing.
What about Zoloft, Nortriptyline, Lexapro, Lithium, Depakote, Lamictal(not crazy about this one but it works well for many)? Have you tried all of these or any combination of these?
Again, are you exercising? I mean really exercising, like vigorously. And then you need to be thoroughly stretching meditatively.
Have you considered a more paleo or primal diet?
Are you taking fish oil? Have you experimented with dosages and ratios?
