>>>Why is the strattera not working??? i've taken it for 4 - 5 weeks now and nothing.
Are you sure of the time period? On Aug 1 you posted and said you started it a week ago, so that would be 19 days as of today. Less than three weeks and 4-5 weeks could be different, although I'm no expert. It worked fast for me as you know. I wish it did for you, too. How long have you been on 80 mg? Have you given it a good trial? How long did your doc say to wait for results? What results are you expecting?
I wonder (and experts here will need to weigh in as I am a novice at med stuff...) if the fact you are taking a fairly high dose of Prozac could be having some sort of paradoxical effect? Prozac + Strattera generally means that plasma levels of atomoxatine are higher is most people and the Prozac dose is adjusted downward according to the pt's reports of increased se, etc. But in your case you are reporting no response at all?
Any way you could d/c the Prozac and try the Strattera without that in the mix? (Prozac usually doesn't need much of a lengthy taper (none for some people such as myself and my daughter who both stopped it cold with no problem)) Maybe that's a dumb idea, I don't know.
Just trying to think outside the box for you here, Matt.I am sorry you are still struggling so much with the doc, your mother and these meds. I know how debilitating untreated, undertreated or improperly treated ADD can be.
Do you take the clonodine for anxiety or specifically for ADD? (which can be so overlapping you can't tell a difference in some people, IMO - the way ADD manifests itself)
The Prozac helpse symptoms of depression? What are they...sorry I can't remember exactly?
The Zyprexa? I am not super familiar but know of it with manic episodes and psychotic features, sometimes in bipolar? What it is helping with, exactly? Or was it helping, when it used to work?
Sorry for all the questions. Just looking at your list of meds I got muddled trying to remember what symptoms outside of the core ones of ADD were the worst for yo and what the other meds were supposed to be doing. Thought if we could get it clearer maybe some others here could give you some good suggestions for a talk with your doc.
I will read your other posts now.
Hang in there, Matt.
MDD (presently in complete remission); ADD-Inattentive type; mild anxiety (not fomally dx'd)
