Re Symbax,

I think it would have made a lot more sense for a combination drug for depression to have combined an SSRI (probably not fluoxetine however) with either bupropion, nortriptline or desipramine - hit both the seretonin and noradrenalin system, rather than giving people Prozac plus Thorazine

I know antipsychotics have a place (amitriptyline/perphenazine has been around for over 40 years) but realy, after a SSRI fails, a SSRI plus an NARI makes a lot more sense to me than an SSRI plus antipsychotic

Infact, there is probably a need for an assortment of combo meds

SSRI plus bupropion

SSRI plus Lithim

SSRI plus atypical antipsychotic

NARI plus atypical antipsychotic

etc

so that patients get an easy "one pill once a day" regimen but still have the benifits of combination therapy
