Mood stabilizers: less is more?

Posted by texastrixie on July 19, 2010, at 20:47:39

Hi everyone - I've been struggling lately and my doc currently has me on a combo of Trileptal and Neurontin (generics for both) for mood stabilization. It's been about 2 months, and I'm still having panic-like symptoms after about 4 hours of sleep. When I report this to my doc, he suggests taking more of the Trileptal. It occurred to me that maybe "more" is the problem - that perhaps I'd do better at a lower dosage (I've been the "best" in a long time at very low dosages of both meds, when I was first prescribed Trileptal), or with nothing at all. Has anyone else had the experience of being on a mood stabilizer then discovering either you did better at a low dose or with nothing at all? I'd appreciate any thoughts. Thanks.
