I think it is really important to take the maoi "plunge". But these drugs are sadly not for everyone.
So while, in my experience, Nardil was the most effective for depression and anxiety, it was also the most difficult for me to handle, and the cure became worse than the disease. One thing that no one ever warned me about was how difficult it would be to try to lower the dosage. The rebound depression was horrifying for me.
I did not stay on parnate long enough for it to do anything for depression. Once I started feeling the desperate need to sleep at 2 pm, I knew I wasn't going down the maoi road anymore. It seems logical to me that starting with selegeline would be good, but I don't know much about oral dosing and effects. It is so sad that the adhesive causes so many people to get rashes.
I think everyone wants tons of support and info about maois - and this is important to get, but in the end, it just winds up being a journey, a gamble and a crap shoot.
Best of luck with it.
