> Jedi, does the clonazepam make you tired with the combination of Nardil? What mg are you taking? Reason I ask, Nardil is helping me be more talkative and social, but I still have my rapid heart rate in social places, and i'm sure clonazepam could help with that, but i dont want to give it a try if it's just going to make me feel droggy all day. Let me know thanks!
Hi Angel,
Currently I am taking 2mg daily of clonazepam to augment 75mg of Nardil. When the Nardil kicks in fully, it is getting really close now, I will reduce that to 1mg or maybe .5mg. Going below .5 for me is tough. I can do it but it takes a long taper. When the depression started hitting me hard again after a five week washout on the Nardil, I even went up to 4mg of clonazepam for a couple of weeks. This was just to buy me the time I needed for the Nardil to start kicking in.I no longer get tired from clonazepam. I usually take it at night, but the long half life lets it work on the anxiety throughout the next day. When you first start on clonazepam it will make you very tired. The tolerance to this side effect builds quickly.
For me, clonazepam augments Nardil very well. They both affect GABA and the synergism of the two medications, for me, is truly amazing. Some people get more depressed on clonazepam, but that does not seem to be my problem. It will affect memory and word finding ability. I love Google, my recognition memory has always been so much better than my recall. In school I could always ace a multiple choice test, where essays were somewhat more difficult. The smaller the dosage the better, as far as memory problems.
If the Nardil is handling most of your social anxiety, some people use a beta blocker PRN to handle situational anxiety, like talking in front of a large crowd. I have not tried this myself, but Google it. It is a quite common use for the racing heartbeat and other physical symptoms of anxiety.
Be Well,
Jedi
