Yeah, amitriptyline is one nasty beast to withdraw from. I'm currently withdrawing from 25mg, am on 10mg now, and I have strong morning anxiety, probably from rebound 5HT2A activation.

I'm withdrawing from amitriptyline because my new drug Deanxit (fixed combination of an obscure TCA with the AP flupentixol) is helping me out tremendously.

If withdrawal gets the better of you, I'd throw in a benzo. You could also switch to nortriptyline intermittently, just to make withdrawal less harsh.

Ever thought about switching to trimipramine?
