Background: I have been on Tianeptine for about six months and have been reasonably satisfied with it. It has really brought my temper under control and my anxiety is pretty much what I would consider normal. After trying Prozac, Wellbutrin and Adderall this is by far the best drug I have encountered. Although any kind of actual happiness has eluded me.
The anecdote and questions:
For reasons I won't go into, I pulled out some old Prozac I had lying around to give a small amount to my cat (Vet says it's OK). Being the pill popper that I am I just took the remainder of the pill myself for no other reason than mischief. Feeling curious, I popped a second pill and went to bed. It has been maybe three years since I tried Prozac.
The next morning, I was shocked at how good I felt. I was genuinely happy like I have not felt in perhaps a year or more. I got to work and was sociable and attracted to the people around me. By 3:00 the effect had faded and I found myself a bit _off_ (vaguely manic?) but it was a great morning.
First off I am confused. In the past it took literally weeks before I felt anything from Prozac (and it was never a 'happy' feeling). Additionally most posts here seem to think the two of these medicines should cancel each other out as their mechanisms of action are direct opposites. I didn't take the Tianeptine till the late afternoon so I suppose there was none in my system when the Prozac was in play but I am still shocked at the effect. Has anyone else noticed any kind of interaction between these two drugs? Is there any reason the Prozac should have acted so fast and so much stronger than when I have tried it in the past?
Has anyone else on this board mixed these two in any way or possibly alternated between them?
