You make a good point. If our doctors were able to hit the target, we wouldn't be here.
As I see it:
Count the number of posters on Psycho-Babble and divide that by the 15 million adults with depression in the US. You will see that we are a rather select lot. Unfortunately, that selection is of treatment resistance or other difficult treatment issues. The treatment of the average case results in success. I think the success rate for treating major depressive disorder is higher than what is often reported in clinical trials. I believe that this is an artifact of poor selection criteria and protocol execution.
What is your doctor's best idea on how to treat you and give you back your life?
