In reply to Xanax, Activan, Klonopin and Diazepam, posted by milo on October 6, 2003, at 19:04:08
Hello Milo,
I just read your post from many years ago. I do not know if you are still reading these threads or if your email has changed. Most likely you will not get this. However, if you do, or if anyone else who is reading this does, please take this to heart.
Benzos like Xanax, Diazepam, and Klonopin are not joking matters. They have short half lives and one can become very dependent upon them, especially after building up a tolerance after prolonged use. This is not about fun and games.
My wife started off with some anxiety issues using only a prescribed amount of 0.25 mg of Xanax. Soon she was increasing the dose. Then her doctor switched her to Klonopin, which has a little longer half-life and is a slightly better choice. Still, she continued to have some issues. He increased her dosage to 1.0 mg then added Lexapro, and SSRI for depression.
It really saddens me to see how glib you are as you write. Mentioning how much you like the way you feel and talking about the various drugs' "kick" or "smoothness" is naive and irresponsible. Please believe me. My wife has suffered and is living proof of this. These drugs are bad news if abused. Even if they are used properly, one should try to eventually taper off of them slowly and continue to seek talk therapy.
Then you mention drinking wine with the drugs as an enjoyable experience. You could also just hit yourself in the head with a hammer. Please wake up and stop abusing these benzos for your own sake.
I hope you are still out there to at least consider what I am saying.
Regards,
Lizardman
