I also think, and this will probably be a bit wishy washy

that an increased lifespan is linked to desire

Desire for all things so to speak

Ghrelin increases appetite(appetite for life)
Dopamine increases appetite for action, succes and blah blah

Serotonin however, in excess anyway, decreases desire, hence all the experiences of apahy, decreased motivation and etc.

Which is why in wishy washy terms SSRI's do not prolong lifespan but actually decrease it.
