Love 'em or hate 'em, effective or not, I firmly believe that the meds I've been taking for 20 years has given me 20 years I might not have had. Some meds have been effective for a short, but critical time, others have been a waste of time but I got through it based on hope. Nausea, fatigue, insomnia, chills, anxiety, shakes, blurred vision, etc., they're just the collateral damage in the battle I fight daily against my demons.
Meds give me hope; meds give me plans; and sometimes meds give me periods of actual normalcy and calmness. Even if it's just giving me enough drive to get up in the morning or get out of the house or go to work, meds (with all their side effects) keep me looking forward.
So chill me away Parnate and hammer me with insomnia Cytomel because guess what? I got my job done today, I showed my kids I care about them, and I had a pleasant conversation with my parents. That might not impress some people, but it makes me want to try again tomorrow.
