As for the whole process of taking Lamictal, its done (hopefully your doctor does this) in a VERY slow pace, ramping like 25mg about every two weeks, to avoid -THE- rash (Stevens-Johnson).
This is done so if there's a small rash, say on your arm or something, then the doctor is aware you're sensitive and then probably will not be able to take Lamictal.
I've heard of people re challenging it after such states, personally I don't think its a good idea, I don't know.
For me, only, it, if it is doing anything which is anyone's clue, is a subtle anti-depressant and possibly one that lowers suicidal thoughts and the like.
It's thought to be an antidepressant for some, a mood stabilizer in general.
