I have soup all the time on Nardil. Was never told not to, so never thought about it. The diet has never been a big concern of mine, except for cheeses and fermented foods which I don't like.
The only soup that might be a problem is something like miso, which is fermented, I think.I think alot of the dietary restrictions are over blown but of course one can never be too careful with avoiding any reaction while on a MAO. I have taken them for years on and off, took Marplan twice,Parnate and now Nardil,a second time. First tried Nardil in the last 80's and it was miracle for me.
The biggest concern I have is taking medications that can interact with MAO's. Even my doctor prescibed a muscle relaxant that was contraindicated. I had told him I was on a MAO so he knew before he prescribed it.
Lots of error are made by docs since so many do not know about the MAO restrictions. You have to get a drug book to verify a med is safe to take with a MAO. Oh well, you can never be too sure with this stuff.
