It depends on how intrusive the symptoms are and what relief you are attempting to gain.


Medication alone won't necessarily 'solve' OCD as I know personally, it is generally a lifetime condition that one learns techniques to deal with.

One way of that is medication and behavioural (CBT) therapy or some form of therapy acceptable to you to focus on reducing the OCD actively instead of merely passively.

For hard cases of OCD, often high doses of SSRIs are used -- at one point in my complex of complexes, I was on 450mg of Luvox.

I would ask your doctor about increasing doses, that shouldn't be a guess on your call, I'm surprised that there wasn't a more guided plan.

Generally dose increases on any SSRI shouldn't be made more than around once a week or initial side effects such as nausea and the like are likely to happen. It doesn't mean they won't happen anyhow but rushing isn't the best game.
