I don't have a link to redistribution symptoms. I have gathered them primarily from viewing the posts of people undergoing various chelation protocols at yahoo chelation forums, and from the book Amalgam Illness. And from feeling them myself. The most common ones are brain fog, fatigue, and blue mood.
I do not believe most people have side effects to ALA, most especially if the dose is very small. If you are taking like 12.5mg to 25mg ALA and getting some strong symptoms...compared to suggested doses that are in the 100mg-200mg range...then yeah, it is in my mind highly suggestive of supporting a diagnosis. You shouldn't be feeling 12.5mg ALA unless something is wrong.
I understand how you feel about Selenium. I too am very sensitive to just about any supplement. I suspect it may be along the lines of what you implito nudge it feels very strong.
I was not aware of Selenium's action on the dopamine circuitry. I doubt it could be very strong, or otherwise lots of people would have felt it and commented on it. Even normal people would feel it. But I have never heard anyone say anything about it being calming, or activating, mood brightening, mood dulling, or anything. I don't seem to feel anything different when I take it. I stopped when I ran out and felt no difference.
