In the world of benzodiazepines, some hypnotics are more useful to treat initial insomnia (trouble falling asleep) than sleep maintenance insomnia (trouble staying asleep).
I was wondering if Sonata were better than Ambien for initial insomnia. Ambien is probably effective for both types of insomnia, but for tougher cases, perhaps a drug with stronger effects on initial insomnia is warranted.
For MAOI insomnia, a combination of hypnotics is sometimes needed. Has anyone ever combined Sonata with Ambien?
