I also read that sometimes docs try giving small dosages of antibotics with the theory being that maybe the body seeing that there are others antibotics present would reduce its production of antibodies and thereby stopping the assault on the thyroid. My doc hasn't suggested this but I am thinking of asking her about it. I read this on Mary Shomon's site and her book as well. I can't remember the other well known doc that talked about this. This other doc who is a leading doc, my stupid-max (otherwise known as topamax is kicking) maintained the thyroid would not get into gear until patients were put on a dosage of 160 mgs of thyroid meds no matter what they were. Seems extreme to me. And of course I can't remember at the moment his rationale for this because my brain went on hiatus.
I am on Armour and mine levels have been up and down. Never near normal but I am recently dx'd with this whole thyroid issues and Hashimoto's. However, my father's whole family has it as well as my father had a Thyroid Storm, burned up his thyroid and is now meds forever. He had an overactive and my doc suspects I did too but I stressed my thyroid out. I also have adrenal fatigue.
