In reply to 12 weeks of Nardil 75mg for SP- still not working!, posted by Mickapoo on November 22, 2008, at 1:22:59
Hi Mickapoo,
I haven't been on the board much lately and can't remember if you've tried any augmentation. I augment Nardil with clonazepam for social anxiety and get a good synergism with the two meds. They both affect GABA and I believe that is why they work well together for my social anxiety.I just recently had to start Nardil again after being off the medication for several months. It sure was nice not having the side effects for a while, but unfortunately my major depression returned. Looks like I'm a Nardil lifer as it is the only antidepressant that has ever worked for me. I've been off of it four times in the past 11 years, and each time the major depression along with social anxiety has returned after several months.
I titrated up to 90mg fairly quickly this time as I knew what to expect in the way of side effects. Within one week the intense pain had gone away. Now, after about a month I would say that I'm pretty close to being in remission again. I always have a residual level of dysthymia, but I can live with that. I have for over 35 years. Oh, right now I'm using 2mg of clonazepam daily. Sometimes I can get away with 1mg when life's stressors aren't too bad.
Good Luck,
Jedi
> For the last 12 weeks I've been on Nardil, 75 mg, for generalized social phobia. It still hasn't worked for my phobia. I feel more energetic and positive, but my social phobia hasn't been touched. I've read such great things about Nardil and its efficacy in regards to SP. If it doesn't help now, do you think there would be much of a difference at 90 mg? Should I even bother?
