Hi Jnew,

> Would you says Nardil and Parnate make you more tired than SSRI's.

I hear that Nardil can be sedating, Parnate for me is not sedating at all. Lots of insomnia at first, passes within first week (I took 1mg klonopin + 6mg melatonin for sleep, ok'd by doc). I found Parnate to be stimulating during the day as well). Same experience with Emsam.

It depends on the SSRI. Some are really tiring, Lexapro for one, and others are more stimulating or speedy like Prozac (in my experience). Don't know about Paxil and Zoloft.

Aside from "potential hypertensive crisis", I found MAOI'S Emsam and Parnate to be far more tolerable that any other A/D's. But thats a BIG aside.

I've found that to be true, more sides with SSRI's. (Except I haven't tried Nardil).

Remember, people are probably less likely to be bothered by side effects if they have early response. I'd imagine that if I had Zero response on Parnate, I could paint a pretty negative picture of its side effects. But I felt great so side effects were not foremost in my mind (again, aside from the hypertention/BP issues).

NOTE: This is all very subjective. I've read this board on and off for a long time, talked to many people, and I read up and research any drug before I take it. What makes one person feel great, makes another feel terrible, a mild s/e for one may be horrible for another, and so on.

I can't stand any SSRI or its side effects, I believe because I don't need seratonin. Other than once on prozac, I've never been able to stay on an A/D for more than 3-4 days other than MAOI's. Those just feel a little annoying to me. I've also heard people say that Prozac saved their lives. Those people were probably not bothered by the side effects as they needed the seratonin.

There you go...my two cents!

Jade
