I would ask your pdoc about modafinil. I'm not sure why it's contraindicated, but I know a number of people here, including myself, take (or have taken) an Maoi with modafinil.

Maybe he could read up about it, or try to contact other pdocs outside your immediate area who know more.

By the way, most dentists have the type of novocaine that doesn't have epinephrine in it. It's the fast-acting type of novocaine. Any dentist really should know this, but if they don't you can tell them. That type of novocaine should be on hand--certainly all the dentists that I've used had have it.

For real surgury, you of course have to stop the nardil, preferably for two weeks. But if you're taking modafinil, that can be continued, and might help support your mood and energy level.
