Do Anticonvulsants and Stimulants play nice ok??

I was just curious. I have BPII and ADHD. I thought it seemed a little paradoxical because the anticonvulsant (trileptal) would slow down the excitatory aspects of the brain, while Ritalin LA would speed it up right? I'm inattentive, and had good results with Ritalin alone, but still had racing thoughts after my work day was over.
