Its one of those things that "your miles may vary." For many it acts as a mood stabilizer and an antidepressant.
It is a slow boat to start it off because you have to make sure to avoid any high rises that might trigger SJS ("the rare rash", not an average rash). Once you're at 200mg it doesn't matter as much the rise in dosing, or thereabouts.
I think that if you've gone through all AEDs, it might be a choice -- if you havent tried one before, then Depakote or Trileptal might be choices. But that's up to you and your doctor.-- best wishes
