I currently take Lamictal and Neurontin for seizure disorder and peripheral neuropathy (namely, my feet). Both serve as anti-convulsants and have worked well. The neurtontin also works on blocking the nerve pain.
I know a lot of people have reported marked reactions to Lamictal, but I never had any problem -- even from the get-go. I don't feel sick or tired or suffer from cognitive deficits or "feel weird." I have taken as little as 100 mg/day and as much as 400 mg/day.
I have had side effects with neurontin: If I go over 300 mg/day (and I have been on as much as 1800 mg/day), I have leg edema -- which is uncomfortble and just makes me feel yucky and like not wanting to take it. I inevitably go back, though, because the burning/freezing/numbness/tingling in my feet are intolerable (and my doc says it's unnecessary to suffer when we have something that works for me).
